The Danube Transnational Programme (DTP) has designed Thematic Capitalisation Strategy with the following objectives, target groups, and activities. DTP has created a HANDBOOK to give answers to potential questions that capitalisation practitioners may have.
Capitalisation Strategy gathers DTP projects and EUSDR Priority Area Coordinators in order to establish a clear link between the strategic and the project level. Priority Area 7 actively cooperates with 4 Thematic Poles connected and contributing to the development of the knowledge society in the Danube Region.
The Thematic Poles are open to all interested projects and stakeholders active in these areas:
Innovative Ecosystem brings together organisations and partners whose main goal is to enable and foster technology development and innovation. In other words, the Innovative Ecosystem shall, in the scope of the DTP programme, enable collaborative innovation between project partners, their stakeholders and target groups, through combining complementary resources, systems and support, with a clear goal to generate new products, features, processes, services or value. The collaborative aspect is utmost important since it creates value that cannot be produced by the organisation on its own.

Thematic Pole 2 (TP2), RDI framework support is coordinated by the Centre for Social Innovation in Vienna and EUSDR PA7. Its main aim is to contribute to the mission of the DTP and the S.O.1.1 by creating links between the local, regional, national, macro-regional and European levels while looking to improve the framework conditions for research and innovation in the Danube Macro region. Particular focus is put on policy dialog and development of new tools and instruments as well as on knowledge transfer, capacity building and awareness raising within the quadruple helix. The two main thematic fields are related to Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) and Research infrastructures (RI).

Entrepreneurial Learning Systems fosters cooperation between key stakeholders of labour market, education and research policies in order to develop learning regions and environments that shall jointly increase the innovative capacities of the labour force in the Danube Region. It will be achieved through new forms of partnerships and cooperation among key stakeholders (labour market, education and training, research and employers). Employers (private, public and voluntary) have an important role to play in identifying the knowledge, skills and competences needed in working life. The collaborative aspect is utmost important since it creates value that cannot be produced by the organisation on its own.

Lack of skilled labour force combined with high unemployment rates indicates serious labour market imbalances in the Danube Region, that highlights the need of a systematic shift towards more demand-driven and labour relevant educational schemes. Under Thematic Pole 09 two DTP projects – together with further associated projects and initiatives inside and outside the Danube Region - join their forces to tackle these challenges. The DTP projects Learning by Doing (Pole Leader) and the EDU-LAB are complementary projects in the sense that both aim to address these societal challenges, but focus on diverse levels of education systems. While the Learning by Doing project is targeting the secondary education by supporting the transition towards Work Based Learning (WBL) in Vocational Education and Training (VET), the EDU-LAB project aims to increase the labour market relevance of higher education with a view to address brain drain and retain more young talents studying and working in the Danube region. EUSDR Priority Area 09 is directly involved into the work of this Capitalization pole, which further to that provides strong linkages also to the Priority Areas 07, 08 and 10 of the EUSDR.
