The funding announcement "ERA Fellowships – Science Management"was published on 17 April 2019, marking the second round of this funding action. Proposals are submitted in a two-step process by the German host institutions. Project outlines must be handed in by 19 June 2019.

As a key event of the 2019 EUSDR Presidency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania jointly with the European Commission and the Danube Transnational Program, are organizing the 8th Annual Forum between 27- 28 of June 2019 in Bucharest (Palace of Parliament), under the motto: “Building cohesion for a shared prosperity in the Danube Region”.

A group of 9 Danubius Young Scientist Award Winners (Péter Borza, Daniel Martínek, Halyna Palamarchuk, Janka Vogel, Jelena Molnar Jazić, Jelena Vladic, Kaja Prislan , Kristijan Kotarski, Raimund Haindorfer and Tzvetelin Gueorguiev) visited the JRC Ispra site on 8-10 April.

JRC manifestation of interest for a pre-paid travel and accommodation participation at the Annual Forum of the EUSDR
In the framework of its Enlargement & Integration Initiative, the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission will support pre-paid travel and accommodation to selected researchers/experts from Albania, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo*, Turkey, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine to participate to the 8th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, taking place on 27-28 June 2019 in Bucharest/Romania.

The application must be received by Wednesday, 24th April 2019, 17h.

* This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with UNSC 1244 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo Declaration of Independence".

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS - DANUBIUS YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD 2019
The Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) and the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe (IDM) will grant awards to honor persons with extraordinary scientific achievements and output in relation to the Danube Region.

The candidate has to be nominated by his/her hosting scientific organisation (university, academy of sciences, etc.) meaning that the candidate himself / herself cannot apply for the award. Every university, academy of sciences or research organization etc. can nominate up to a maximum of three candidates in total; however the three candidates have to come from different faculties or departments, institutes or research groups within the organization.

The deadline for submitting nominations is Friday, 26th April 2019 at 23:59.

How can EU policies support the development of innovation capabilities in less developed regions? This note examines the mobilization of the EU’s two major innovation support instruments: the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) and Horizon 2020 (H2020). Using data from Eurostat and European Commission administrative data on ESIF and H2020 funding, we observe a number of salient patterns: While newer member states benefit from higher research and innovation allocations from ESIF, participation in H2020 remains a formidable challenge.
